L. William Mulbry, M.D.

Assistant Professor

L. William "Bill" Mulbry is Board-Certified in General and Forensic Psychiatry. He completed a residency in General Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). His interest and specialty is evaluation of criminal competency, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility and capacity to conform, as well as mitigation, and violence risk assessment. He works in the laboratory of the Sexual Behaviors Laboratory and Clinic (SBLC) at MUSC for the assessment of sexual offenders. He also has extensive experience doing evaluations for Guardianship and Conservatorship for Probate Court. He has been certified as an expert in Federal, US Military, South Carolina General Sessions and Probate Court. Dr. Mulbry has experience treating patients within the South Carolina Department of Corrections and the local Mental Health Centers. He is an active participant in the teaching program at MUSC providing supervision and lectures for medical students, residents and fellows. He is adjunct faculty and co-lecturer for the ‘Psychiatry and the Law’ course taught at the Charleston School of Law. He has in the past had a long career in Orthopedic, Hand and Microsurgery.
