Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs Community Outreach
CDAP Rallies to Support “Race for the Cure” Faculty and staff at the Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs recently joined forces in support of breast cancer awareness and research. Darby Jarrett led the effort, coordinating a “Jeans for Breast Cancer” Friday. CDAP employees eagerly gave to the cause, donating a total of $520 to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and wore blue jeans to work to demonstrate their support and participation.
While the Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs focuses its research efforts in the areas of alcohol and substance abuse, faculty and staff recognize the far-reaching effects of addiction. Studies show that alcoholism increases the risk of breast cancer as well as other diseases such as hypertension and cirrhosis of the liver. Our center remains committed to understanding and acknowledging the big picture of alcohol and drug abuse and their impact on individuals, families, and communities.
In this effort, CDAP continues to seize opportunities to reach beyond our own walls to bring change and to advance wellness in our community.
We are excited to lend a hand toward progress, and we encourage others to get involved!
