An integral part of residency here at Storm Eye Institute is resident research. Additionally there is a very strong and exciting research department here at Storm Eye that welcomes resident participation.
In addition to our own spring meeting, the SEI/ASCRS Clinical Update at Kiawah Island, SC, residents are able to attend other meetings/educational conferences. Seniors always attend the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual meeting. Seniors also attend the Alcon CPE course in Fort Worth, TX every year. The First year residents will be offered an opportunity to comprehensively review the material that comprises the ophthalmology specialty. The location and timing of this study period will be approved on a class by class basis. All residents are partially supported (financially) to participate in courses/meetings in which they present posters or papers with approval of the Chief resident and Program Director. The annual NC/SC ophthalmology meeting is always open to residents. Residents have routinely participated at AAPOS, ASCRS and ARVO in the past. |
