Sam Kini, M.D., FACEP

Sam Kini has been on faculty at MUSC in the Division of Emergency Medicine since 1997 and is an Associate Professor.

After 13 years of General Surgery Practice, Sam started his emergency medicine career in 1988.  He has been a full-time emergency physician ever since.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Sam came to academics with one thing in mind and that is to teach. He has been teaching medical students and students of other colleges of health professions in MUSC.  He started the emergency medicine course for the fourth- year medical students and gradually has built the course as a mandatory course for all fourth-year medical students at MUSC.

He has taught ACLS and ATLS for over 20 years.

Sam serves on the CME committee at MUSC, South Carolina Medical Association and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. He serves on the GME committee as well.

Sam strongly believes in bedside teaching, improving history and physical examination skills.  Sam wants to share his experience and knowledge with future physicians and make sure that his contribution will help improve healthcare of all patients presenting to emergency departments.

Sam travels to his home country of India regularly to teach students and physicians to improve emergency medical care in hospitals in India.
