Dr. Scott joined the MUSC faculty in August of 2007. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in 1992 and then graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 2004. In the interim period between undergraduate and medical school, Dr. Scott worked as a Legislative Assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Commerce, an authorizing committee for health care policy. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine in 2007 at East Carolina University.
Dr. Scott’s interests are in the areas of Disaster Medicine and Emergency Preparedness. He also has an interest in health law and public policy – particularly the metrics of preparedness and ‘surge capacity’ in the Emergency Room and the importance of physician advocacy for comprehensive health care reform. Finally, he is very interested in medical education and is actively involved in teaching/training Residents and Medical Students.
