Division of Emergency medicine

Christine M. Carr, M.D.

Dr. Carr is the Medical Director in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina.  Dr. Carr undertook her undergraduate studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.  Dr. Carr earned her M.D. at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1992.  She completed her internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore MD.  Dr. Carr is board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Carr is one of the original members of the Emergency Medicine faculty, joining the group in 1995.  Dr. Carr is a member of several organizations including the American College of Emergency Medicine and the American Association of Emergency Medicine.  She has been active in the MUSC and AAMC Women in Medicine groups and serves as a mentor to medical students and young women entering into Emergency Medicine.  Dr. Carr has been instrumental in developing the framework for the new Emergency Medicine Residency program scheduled to start its first class in July 2007.  Dr. Carr’s expertise includes process improvement  strategies, coding/billing and emergency medicine practice management.
