Joseph D. Losek, MD, FAAP, FACEP
Dr. Joseph D. Losek is Professor, Division of Emergency Medicine (EM) with the Department of Medicine and Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) with the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Losek is the immediate past PEM Division Chief. He currently serves as the Research Director/Mentor for the EM and PEM Divisions. Overall, the primary responsibility of the Research Director/Mentor (RDM) is to provide expert advice in performing clinical research for EM faculty and residents and PEM faculty and fellows requesting assistance with a research project. Additionally, the RDM is encouraged to conduct or assist in the conduct of clinical research.
Dr. Losek has over 90 publications in peer-review journals of which nearly half have been co-authored with residents, fellows or junior faculty. His research interests include pediatric pre-hospital care, intussusception, hypoglycemia and procedural sedation and analgesia. Dr. Losek served as chair of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Section Collaborative Research Committee, American Academy of Pediatrics from 1991-1996 and has been on the editorial board of Pediatric Emergency Care publication since 1989.
