Lance Scott, MD, FACEP

Dr. Scott joined the MUSC faculty in August of 2007.  He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in 1992 and then graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 2004.  In the interim period between undergraduate and medical school, Dr. Scott worked as a Legislative Assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Commerce, an authorizing committee for health care policy.  During his Emergency Medicine residency at East Carolina University (2004-2007), Dr. Scott was elected to the Board of Directors of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) and was the first Disaster Medicine fellow to serve in the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Chief Medical Officer. 

Dr. Scott’s interests are in the areas of Disaster Medicine, Emergency Preparedness and human performance in chaotic environments. He also has an interest in health law and public policy and has served as President of the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians (SCCEP).  Finally, he is very interested in medical education and is actively involved in teaching/training residents and medical students.

Dr. Scott has recently expanded his leadership duties to include Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Medical Center in Charleston.
