Emergency Medicine Residency Core Curriculum

To prepare you for the independent practice of Emergency Medicine. We follow the "Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine", the content of which we cover twice during the three-year residency.  We match lectures to reading assignments from Tintinalli and Rosen and reinforce learning by lectures, written/oral exams, interactive session, cord exams and the annual ABEM inservice exam.

Lectures include morbidity and mortality, EKG rounds, and X-ray/visual diagnosis augment our didactic curriculum.  EMS quality improvement and EM practice conferences explore pre-hospital and business aspects of emergency medicine.  We teach procedures at bedside and in our state of the art simulation center monthly.

Emergency Ultrasound is also an integral part of our emergency department.  There are two SonoSites available around the clock for use. The portable machines come equipped with a curvilinear probe, a linear high resolution probe, and a high resolution vaginal probe. The uses of this machine continue to expand. There is also a dedicated ultrasound in the Pediatric ED.
