Richard L. Klein, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Richard L. Klein, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Medical Genetics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Charleston, South Carolina. He also holds a joint appointment as a Research Health Scientist in the Research Service of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Dr. Klein completed a Masters’ degree in molecular biology at the University of Texas, Richardson, Texas. He pursued additional graduate training in the Department of Pathology and Comparative Medicine at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he received his initial training in lipid and lipoprotein biochemistry. After completing his doctoral training, he began post-doctoral training at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Division of Lipid Biochemistry. Dr. Klein has been on faculty at MUSC since the completion of his training in 1985.
