Diane DellaValle, Ph.D, RDN
Joined the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in August 2013 as an Assistant Professor. Dr. DellaValle completed her Dietetic Internship and BS in Nutrition/Dietetics at Marywood University in 2001, and earned her MS in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University in 2004. She then completed her PhD in Human Nutrition at Cornell University in 2011. Prior to coming to MUSC she held positions at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, as well as the USDA Agricultural Research Service studying how to measure nutrition outcomes (dietary, body composition, and physical performance assessment methodologies), as well as how nutrition affects various health outcomes (e.g. obesity and other metabolic disorders, iron deficiency, mineral bioavailability of staple food crops). Her main research area includes the assessment of physical performance as it relates to iron status. At MUSC, she is currently leading the dietary assessment team in a large clinical trial, and looks forward to continuing her research on iron and physical performance, in addition to collaborating with others as a nutrition expert.
