Merriman Dowdle is a Physician Assistant who has held the faculty position of Instructor of Medicine in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Medical University of South Carolina working in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease and general GI Service since November 1996. She graduated Cum Laude from the Medical University of South Carolina in August 1996. She is also adjunct teaching faculty to the College of Health Profession Physician Assistant Program.
Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, Ms. Dowdle worked here as a Research Specialist in the Department of Physiology, and before that as a Chemistry Specialist in the Pharmaceutical Development Center.
Ms. Dowdle is a member of the Academy of Physician Assistants, South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America-Professional Member and previous Board Member.
Ms. Dowdle’s special interests include Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Remicade Infusion Therapy, Research, and Patient Education. She is currently involved in multiple IBD research trials as co-investigator and sub-investigator.
