Dr. Brownfield is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. She received her M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia, and completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Bowman-Gray School of Medicine/North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Brownfield is a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine and has served as the president of this group’s southern region. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Charleston County Medical Society. She has been chosen as one of the “Best Doctors of America” on multiple occasions including the 2005-2006 listing. Her interests include medical education, and she serves on the MUSC Curriculum Coordinating Committee and as co-course director for the Foundations of Medicine.
Dr. Brownfield’s clinical interests include the care of women, wellness and prevention and the care of general internal medicine patients.
