Dr. Meyer is board certified in Internal Medicine, with Geriatric board certifications in 1994 and 2004. Her clinical activities include providing geriatric medical care at the VAMC in out-patient clinics, in-hospital,and home visit settings. She has a geriatric medical practice associated with MUSC at the Franke Home, a community retirement center.
Teaching is a central aspect of Dr. Meyer's geriatric practice. Medical students and housestaff rotate through the geriatrics service monthly. Teaching them involves bedside or office clinical problem solving and lectures on geriatric subjects. In the larger community, Dr. Meyer has been a speaker for yearly geriatrics and primary care conferences. Her clinical interests include dizziness and balance problems in the elderly, and the unique features of chronic illnesses in the old. She has a research interest in complementary medicines for chronic illnesses.
