Assistant Professor Baron Short completed his B.S in Biology from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 1996 and his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2001. In 2006 he finished his dual residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at MUSC and joined the faculty as Assistant Professor with dual appointments in the Departments of Internal Medicine and the Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. His clinical and research interests include medical illnesses, co-morbid mood disorders and brain stimulation technologies. He started the Masters of Science in Clinical Research with the intent of pursuing clinical translational work of novel brain stimulation techniques for the treatment of depression and depressive symptomatology found in oncological, rheumatological and cardiovascular diseases.
