Education
The primary missions of the Division of Hematology/ Oncology's training program are to develop its fellows to be capable of pursuing careers in academic hematology/oncology and to develop hematologists/ oncologists to serve the needs of South Carolina.  Specific goals include the following:

1. Provide comprehensive clinical and research training in medical oncology and benign and malignant hematology to the Division's complement of fellows.

2. Provide basic clinical (and, as requested, research) training in hematology/oncology to residents, medical students, and allied health trainees rotating through the Division.

3. Maintain the training program's current full, unconditional ACGME and ABIM accreditation.

4. Continue to evolve the training program in accordance with the developing needs in the field of hematology/oncology and in accordance with the ACGME-directed outcomes project.

All applications are handled exclusively through the AAMC's ERAS system.  The application deadline for July 2008 matriculation is March 31.  The application and all supporting documentation must be received by that time.  Questions about application procedures and status should be directed to the program coordinator, Tara Kirby at 843-792-4271 or at kirbyt@musc.edu.
