Assistant Professor Dr. Keisuke Shirai is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina. His clinical expertise is in the treatment of Head and Neck, Lung and Esophageal cancers. He graduated from Kyoto University, Japan in 1997 and undertook his training in Internal Medicine and Radiation Oncology. He came to the States in 2002 and completed his Internal Medicine residency training at University of Pittsburgh, Shadyside Hospital. He completed his fellowship in Hematology and medical Oncology at MUSC in 2008. Dr. Shirai’s main clinical activity is as a medical oncologist on the head and neck, lung cancer, and melanoma study group team. This group has established surgical, radiation oncology, and translational research programs in South Carolina. He has also served as a Principal Investigator for multiple head and neck, lung cancer, and melanoma clinical trials at Hollings Cancer Center.
