| Associate Professor Dr. Afrin practices general hematology and medical oncology and has been the director of the Division of Hematology/Oncology's Fellowship Training Program since 1997. He teaches graduate and undergraduate trainees at all levels and participates in the Division's clinical trials, but the primary focus of his research is in the realm of medical informatics, particularly clinical informatics, mobile computing, medical education informatics, and clinical trials informatics. He serves in a number of information technology-related administrative roles including director of information technology for MUSC's Office of Graduate Medical Education. He has overseen the enterprise-wide deployment of MUSC's electronic residency management system, and he also is assisting in the development of MUSC's clinical information systems.
