Rita Kramer, M.D.

Associate Professor

Since joining the faculty at the MUSC and HCC in May 2009, Dr. Kramer has been working closely with the Basic Breast Research Group and the Clinical Trials Office at the Hollings Cancer Center. She has scientific experitse in the diagnosis and treatment of benign breast diesase and breast cancer. Dr. Kramer also has extensive experience in conducting clinical research and is the Principal Investigator on numerous studies ongoing at HCC. 

Dr. Kramer collaborates with colleagues around the country to improve care for women with breast disease and breast cancer by increasing opportunities for patients to receive cutting edge therapies through participation in clinical research. Such clinical trials focus on defining the optimal agents for specific subtypes of breast cancer. Tailoring therapy will improve benefits and decrease the risk of side effects. Dr. Kramer is also collaborating with colleagues at the Hollings Cancer Center to explore the role of obesity in breast cancer mortality.
