ID Fellowship: Consult Service

The Infectious Diseases Consult Service consists of:

"A" Consult Service: This service is for all non-HIV inpatient consults at the Medical University Hospital

"B" Consult Service: This service sees all Medical University Hospital HIV inpatient consults and all inpatient consults at the Charleston Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Charleston Memorial Hospital, MUSC Transitional Care Unit and MUSC Institution of Psychiatry.

Referrals consist of complex patients that have or are thought to have an infectious disease, and are found among patients on the Internal Medicine service, other medical subspecialty services, surgery service, surgical subspecialty services, Obstetrics-Gynecology service, and Psychiatry service. Patients are often located in the critical care units. Rounds include a Pharm. D. intern and/or resident who provide(s) assistance with drug dosing, interactions and side-effects.
