The MUSC Infectious Diseases Fellowship program is designed to provide extensive training in clinical infectious diseases. The Infectious Diseases Division sees patients at the three hospitals affiliated with the Medical University: Medical University Hospital
Veteran's Administration Medical Center (VAMC), and
Charleston Memorial Hospital (CMH).
These hospitals, all located within easy walking distance of each other, have approximately 1,000 beds. In addition to the usual consult rotations standard in Infectious Diseases training programs, we offer a number of rotations to cover important areas in clinical Infectious Diseases: Travel medicine
Transplant infectious diseases
Sexually transmitted diseases
Pediatric infectious diseases
Clinical research
Outpatient antibiotic therapy
PICC line insertion, and
Clinical microbiology.
Together the various clinical services provide a complete and balanced fellowship designed for a physician interested in clinical Infectious Diseases. The program can, however, be modified for someone interested in a greater research experience. Our fellowship positions are funded by the Medical University of South Carolina.
