Associate Professor Dr. Milos Budisavljevic is a graduate of the University of Sarajevo Medical School (former Yugoslavia) where he completed internship and residency in internal medicine. He then did his research fellowship in Hopital Tenon and INSERM U 64 in Paris, France studying antiidiotypic antibody networks with Pierre Ronco, Pierre Verroust and Gabriel Richet. Upon arrival to the United States in 1991, Dr. Budisavljevic completed his residency in medicine and fellowship in nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina. At this institution he was first appointed as an Assistant and in 2005 as an Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Budisavljevic is Medical director of the James Island dialysis clinic and Medical director of the Apheresis unit at MUSC. He is a member of the Medical Review Board of Southeastern Kidney Council. His memberships also include the American Society of Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, Southern Society for Clinical Investigation, and American Society for Apheresis. Dr. Budisavljevic’s clinical interests include calciphylaxis, treatment of glomerulonephritis and chronic hemodialysis. His basic research interest involves pathogenesis of glomerulonephritis and in particular patterns of protein expression in the course of the experimental glomerular injury.
