Professor Perry V. Halushka, received his Ph.D. and M.D. degrees from the University of Chicago in 1967 and 1970, respectively. After internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital, he spent two years at the NIH, Experimental Therapeutics Branch. In 1974, he joined the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina. He is currently, Professor of Pharmacology and Medicine, Program Director, Medical Scientist Training Program and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. Dr. Halushka¹s research has revolved around understanding the role of thromboxane A2 receptors in pathologic processes. Currently, he is collaborating with Drs. Omar Moussa and Dennis Watson, investigating the role of thromboxane A2 receptors in bladder cancer. These studies involve both basic and clinical studies.
