Associate Professor

Michael G. Janech, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C.  Dr. Janech also serves as the  Director of the Nephrology Proteomics Laboratory.  Dr. Janech is a graduate of MUSC and completed a National Science Foundation International Research Postdoctoral Fellowship in Montpellier, France prior to joining the Department of Medicine at MUSC in 2005.  Dr. Janech has basic science interests surrounding pathological mechanisms underlying diseases of the glomerulus.  He was a recipient of a Nephcure Young Investigator award and Veterans' Affairs Career Development Award to investigate the use of urine proteins as predictors of glomerular disease.  Dr. Janech is an adjunct faculty member for the Graduate Program in Marine Biology at the College of Charleston and associate faculty member for the Marine Biomedicine and Environmental Sciences Program at MUSC. He is also a member of the Southern Acute Kidney Injury Network (SAKInet) and is an ONR-funded investigator collaborating with the National Marine Mammal Foundation.
