Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Kristin Highland is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep Medicine. She completed her undergraduate and medical training at Indiana University. Her residency and fellowship in pulmonary/critical care were completed at the Medical University of South Carolina.
While a member of the pulmonary faculty, she has also completed an additional fellowship in rheumatology and immunology and has completed a masters of science in clinical research. Her clinical and research interests center around the pulmonary manifestations of rheumatic disease, with an emphasis on pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease. She currently has funding through the Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Center for Rheumatic Diseases in order to study “Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma activity in scleroderma” She is also director of the Multidisciplinary Pulmonary Hypertension Program and is currently involved in several industry sponsored clinical trials.
