Marcy B. Bolster is an Associate Professor of Medicine and is the Rheumatology Training Program director. The rheumatology training program currently has 7 fellows and places an emphasis on strong clinical training, research, and developing the fellow as an educator. Dr. Bolster has clinical interests in scleroderma with a particular emphasis on the lung disease associated with scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. She has participated in clinical treatment trials in scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis. She is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. She is involved in developing a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of osteoporosis at MUSC and is in the process of establishing an Osteoporosis Center and a Geriatric Fracture Program at the MUSC Bone and Joint Center located in West Ashley. These efforts involve the coordination of care provided by endocrinology, rheumatology, orthopedics, radiology, and physical therapy. She has a strong interest in education and has been involved in programs focused on mentoring. She has been involved with educational programs coordinated by the American College of Physicians. Dr. Bolster has also coordinated CME programs in rheumatology for primary care physicians.
