Kusumam Joseph, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a graduate of the University of Kerala, India where she received a Bachelor of Sciences Degree with Biology and Chemistry as majors. She received her Master of Sciences (majoring in Biology), Master of Philosophy (Developmental Biology) and Doctor of Philosophy (Biochemistry) Degrees from the University of Poona, Pune, India. She did her post-doctoral training at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She joined the Division of Rheumatology at MUSC in 2005. Her areas of research interests include mechanisms of plasma bradykinin generation, characterization of cell surface receptors, signaling pathways related to kinin-forming cascade and interaction of bradykinin and endothelin-1 in pulmonary arterial hypertension.
