Description

This elective is designed to expose students to consultive adult cardiology both inpatient and outpatient.

Course Objectives

Understand cardiac pathophysiology
Become expert in cardiac exam 
EKG interpretation 
Management of cardiac disease

Instructional Methodology

Lectures - 5
Rounds/Discussions - 10
Patient Contact - 10
Lab - EKG Station
Patient Load - 2-4

Specifics

The student will be notified via email by Student Coordinator, Mary Ann Snell, as to which service you will be on (Consult service either here or at the VA).  At that time she will also notify you of the name of the Cardiology fellow running the service.  Page the fellow ahead of time to find out where to meet.  If you are assigned to the VA please complete all the VA paperwork as soon as possible in order to receive clearance to work at the VA.  Mrs. Snell can be reached at 792-7282 and is located in 807 E CSB if you have any questions.

You will receive your grade from the attending on service that month.
