This course in adult gastroenterology provides students with sufficient exposure and knowledge so that they may be better prepared to deal with patients suffering from disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract, pancreas and liver.
Course Objectives
Allow students to develop new skills and extend previously developed skills in gastroenterology
Provide more patient contact and responsibility in administering medical care to patients with diseases involving the digestive system

Please report to either Dr. Frederick Wilson or Mr. Dallas Ellis (GI Division Business Manager) in 210 CSB at 8 a.m. the first day of service.
The student has the choice as to whether they wish to spend 2 or 4 weeks on the Inpatient Luminal or Consult Service, or the Inpatient Liver Service. This will be explained in more detail on the first day of service. In essence, the student works as a member of a team, consisting of an Intern, Medical Resident, GI Fellow, and Attending Physician, who are involved in the care of patients with often difficult problems in gastrointestinal and liver diseases. The student may attend GI lectures and conferences, observe endoscopic procedures and receive printed information on particular diseases supplied by Division members.
The student is graded by the Attending Physician on the Service which the student has chosen.
