This course allows students to review and apply principles of respiratory pathophysiology to disease states, introduces them to a variety of clinical forms of pulmonary disease and instructs them in the principles of respiratory care.
Course Objectives
Learn principles of respiratory physiology Learn how to interpret pulmonary function tests Evaluate patients with a variety of respiratory diseases Learn appropriate indications for bronchoscopy
Students should report to Marianne Grac in 812 CSB at 8 a.m. on their first day of service.
Students will be assigned to the Consult Service and will receive a grade from the Attending Physician on service that month.
The student will round with the attending and fellow daily; this time may vary dependent upon the attending and the day. They will be expected to round independently on their own patients and see new patients as assigned by the fellow. The will read and interpret the PFTs, to be completed with the attending on rounds. They will be expected to attend the VA pulmonary clinic on Thursday afternoons.
