This elective emphasizes the evaluation and management of outpatients with common musculoskeletal diseases. The majority of the time is spent in private and public ambulatory clinics of the division. Limited exposure to complicated inpatient consultations is available. Students will have intense one-on-one contact with faculty in the evaluation of ambulatory patients.

Evaluation of patients with joint pain Musculoskeletal examination Use of a diagnostic evaluation of patients with suspected autoimmune disease Learn commonly utilized therapies in the treatment of the patient with a broad range of musculoskeletal diseases

Students need to report to Barbara Coleman in 912 CSB a day or two before they start the service to pick up a schedule and handouts on basic Rheumatology diseases.
Students should report to the 5th floor of the Rutledge Tower at 8 a.m. on their first day of service. If you are assigned to the VA please complete all theVA paperworkas soon as possible in order to receive clearance to work at the VA.
Students will be assigned mainly to the Rheumatology Clinic Service and will receive a grade from the Teaching Attending Physician assigned that month.
