The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is one of the state’s three largest health systems. As part of MUSC, the Department of Medicine and its ten clinical subspecialty Divisions are key providers of inpatient and outpatient health care to patients in South Carolina. The Department of Medicine maintains faculty physicians and resident staff at Medical University Hospital, Ralph H. Johnson Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Charleston Memorial Hospital and other hospitals across the state, as well as outpatient facilities at MUSC Rutledge Tower (adjacent to the main MUSC hospital), Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, North Charleston and Goose Creek. The Department’s main clinical goals are to serve the health care needs of the community and beyond by providing the best clinical care possible, and to become the health care provider of choice in South Carolina. We continue to improve clinical effectiveness by analyzing patient and referring physician satisfaction data and by opening new and expanding outreach services throughout South Carolina’s Lowcountry. | | Peter Zwerner, M.D. Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs Department of Medicine |
