Pediatric Surgery
 Welcome to the division of pediatric surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. The division of pediatric surgery includes a team of physicians and healthcare providers that dedicate their professional knowledge to the care of infants and children at the MUSC Children's Hospital. Our staff of surgeons, residents, physician assistants, nurses, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and child life specialists provide expert care and they work in collaboration with the members of the department of pediatrics to ensure optimal care and to promote the research mission of the institution.

Common Conditions - Neonatal congenital anomalies (congenital diaphragmatic hernia, congenital cystic adenomatoid of the lung (CCAM), pulmonary sequestration, intestinal, esophageal and duodenal atresia, tracheo-esophageal fistula, abdominal wall defects (gastroschisis and omphalocele), imperforate anus, meconium ileus, Hirschsprung disease, etc.)

- Hernias - Inguinal, umbilical, epigastric and abdominal wall
- Pyloric stenosis
- Intussusception
- Acute appendicitis
- Head and neck cysts and masses
- Undescended testes
- Gastroesophageal reflux
- Solic abdominal tumors (Wilms and Neuroblastoma)
- Liver tumors (hepatoblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma)
- Biliary atresia
- Pediatric burn injury
- Pediatric trauma
 Clinical Services
- Minimally invasive, laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, and robotic pediatric surgery
- Neonatal surgery including the correction of congenital gastrointestinal and thoracic anomalies
- Outpatient surgery for treatment of common pediatric surgical problems, such as inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, circumcision, and treatment of undescended testicles
- Management of Pediatric Trauma and Burns
- Pediatric surgical oncology
- Vascular access procedures in children
Training Programs
