Neuroradiology
The division of diagnostic neuroradiology at MUSC provides clinical, educational, and research services in all aspects of neuroradiology for the patients in Charleston and throughout South Carolina.
The most advanced and sophisticated MR, CT, and PET-CT imaging studies are being performed using state-of-the art equipment.
In addition to the imaging studies, CT-guided biopsies of the spine, neck, and skull base are routinely performed.
The most comprehensive program of image-guided minimally invasive spinal procedures includes: Percutaneous cervical and lumbar disc decompression Percutaneous vertebral cement augmentation Percutaneous spinal tumor ablations and cement augmentation
The Division actively collaborates with multiple departments throughout MUSC, as well as with other institutions. This includes active participation in multiple interdepartmental conferences, in which entire teams discuss and decide on further management of individual patients. The Division offers an ACGME accredited fellowship program in diagnostic neuroradiology from 2007. The faculty members are recognized nationally and internationally and have been repeatedly invited as speakers and visiting professors to national and international meetings and other academic institutions. The Division is involved in multiple research projects and has published over 100 papers in leading peer-reviewed journals. | Diagnostic Neuroradiology Faculty | Zoran Rumboldt, M.D., Ph.D. Director, Diagnostic Neuroradiology | | Alessandro Cianfoni, M.D. | | Gisele Matheus, M.D. | | Maria Spampinato, M.D. | | Donna Roberts, M.D. | | | Neurointerventional Radiology Faculty | Aquilla Turk, M.D. Director, Neurointerventional Radiology | Imran Chaudry, M.D. Neurointerventional Radiology |
