Dr. Leonie Gordon is a tenured professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, S.C.  She received her medical degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and completed her nuclear medicine residency at MUSC before joining  the faculty.

She is the Director of Nuclear Medicine as well as the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Director.  She is the author of more than 50 publications and is a frequent invited speaker.   She is also very active within the university, chairing the Radiation Control Council.  Dr. Gordon is the recipient of a number of grant awards for research.   She is active in education of both radiology residents and the medical students, having increased the membership of the medical student radiology interest group. She is the author of more than 50 publications and is a frequent invited speaker.

Dr. Gordon is active member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and is on the Board of Directors for the Society of Nuclear Medicine, where she is the General Program Chairman. She serves on the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and also is a member of the residency Review Committee for the Accreditation Commission for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for Nuclear Medicine.
