Assistant Professor of Radiology Dr. Guimaraes joined MUSC in January 2008 as an interventional radiologist. Prior to coming to MUSC, Dr. Guimaraes held faculty appointments at the Hospital de Clinicas, Federal University of Rio Grande Sul (UFRGS) Medical School and Moinhos de Vento Hospital in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Dr. Guimaraes received his M.D. at Federal University of Rio Grande Sul (UFRGS) where he completed 6 extra voluntary rotations in intensive care, gastroenterology, internal medicine, surgery, trauma and radiology. He completed postgraduate training in General Surgery and General and Interventional Radiology in Brazil and completed a Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship at MUSC.
