Jens H. Jensen, Ph.D.

Professor of Radiology

Jens Jensen, Ph.D. is a Professor of Radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina.  Dr. Jensen received his B.S. degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1982 and his Ph.D. degree in physics from Princeton University in 1987.  From 1987 to 1993, he held research positions in physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen Denmark, and at the University of Maryland in College Park.  In 1993, he joined the faculty of the Department of Radiology at the New York University School of Medicine, where he worked until recruited by MUSC in 2011.

Dr. Jensen's research focuses on quantitative approaches to MRI, particularly relating to water diffusion and endogenous iron in biological tissues.  He serves on the editorial board of NMR in Biomedicine, has authored over 70 articles, and is an inventor on 12 issued or pending patents for MRI technology.
