Professor of Radiology and Cardiology Director, CT Research and Development Dr. Schoepf is a Professor with a dual appointment in Radiology and Medicine (Division of Cardiology) at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Schoepf, a native of Austria, was born in 1969 and graduated from the medical school of Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, in 1996. After his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Klinikum Grosshadern in Munich he assumed a position as staff radiologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, in Boston, a position which he held from 2001-2004. Dr. Schoepf is a pioneer in cardiac CT applications and has performed this test for the last decade, witnessing the evolution of this technology from humble beginnings to its current state-of-the-art. His main scientific interest is cardio-thoracic imaging, especially the use of multi detector-row CT for diagnosing coronary artery disease. Dr. Schoepf serves on the editorial board of Radiology and the Journal of Thoracic Imaging. He has given more than 120 invited lectures internationally and has authored or co-authored over 100 articles in peer reviewed journals, including Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology, Circulation, and JAMA. Dr. Schoepf has contributed 20 book chapters and has edited two books. Dr. Schoepf is a member of numerous scientific societies including the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, American Heart Association, and the American Roentgen Ray Society and serves on several committees of the American College of Radiology, American Heart Association, and the American College of Cardiology. He has received numerous awards and honors from national and international medical societies. He was cited the second year in a row as one of the “Top Ten Cardiovascular Imagers in the Nation” by Medical Imaging Magazine.
