Dr. Leonie Gordon
Residency Program Director

Welcome to the MUSC Diagnostic Radiology Residency.

MUSC Department of Radiology, Diagnostic Radiology Residency program is dedicated to offering the highest caliber radiology training. We constantly strive to improve our program and provide an environment to best learn the art of Radiologic medicine.

In addition to a top quality academic institution, MUSC is located in one of the south’s most beautiful cities. Charleston is located on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. There are innumerable opportunities for outdoor activity, water sports golf and a host of other activities.

Please look around our website and explore the links from this page. We hope that you will consider us as you look to begin your career in radiology.

These pages were constructed by the residents and provide most of the information we think you should know when considering our program.

The residency program has seven residents per year.  We strongly suggest applicants consider applying to a transitional year closely associated with the residency, e.g., Trident Hospital, as apart of their family practice program.  We provide coverage for all of MUSC which includes the main hospital, VA hospital, childrens hospital, and the outpatient Rutledge Tower. The department is all digital PACS and has been for nearly 10 years. Volume is approximately 200,000 exams per year and increasing.

There are two conferences each day from 11:30 to 1:00. These are generally a mix of didactic and case based. Monthly conferences include radiology-pathology correlation, department M&M, and diagnostic and neuroradiology cases of the month, as well as trauma and rheumatology conferences.

Call is a night float system, please see the Rotations section.

The new MUSC Ashley River Tower (A.R.T.) building opened in February 2008. It is the latest milestone in the history of MUSC.  The Heart and Vascular Center and Digestive Disease Center provide services with the latest technologies and state of the art imaging equipment.  Please watch the DVD illustrating our mission and goal for MUSC Excellence!
