The resident on the Body CT rotation is responsible for all of the adult inpatient and outpatient abdomen and pelvis CT’s performed at MUSC and Rutledge Tower. Typically, this totals between 30-40 per day and includes a wide variety of pathology, includindg many trauma studies. Studies vary from standard abdomen and pelvis protocols to specific studies designed to take advantage of the capabilities of our scanners - like dedicated CT urography or 4-phase liver CT. MUSC became of the first filmless departments with the installation of AGFA PACS back in 1996. In our department we have moved entirely to either 16 or 64 detector row scanners, with two 64 slice Siemens CT scanners, one of the first to be installed in the U.S., and three 16-slice scanners. Multiple post-processing and 3D workstations throughout the department. These are found in both the reading rooms as well as in a dedicated 3-D post-processing workroom located near the main hospital CT scanners. Dr. Munazza Anis, Dr. Angelle Harper, and Dr. Nancy Curry typically staff the Body CT rotation. More information on MUSC's 64-slice CT scanner (PDF Format) Information on the Free Acrobat Reader
