There are typically two residents on the interventional radiology service. One resident primarily covers the CT interventions and CTA/MRA of the extremities, with an IR attending who specifically covers these services. There are typically 4-6 CT guided procedures per day, including biopsies, drain placements, and RF ablation procedures. Peripheral MRA and CTA cases are interpreted by the IR resident/attending covering this service. The second resident covers the vascular interventional service. This service typically has two attendings and the two fellows covering approximately 12-15 cases per day. The resident’s role is primarily to obtain patient consent for procedures as well as participate in select cases throughout the day. This aspect of the service is driven primarily by the fellows, but there are plenty of opportunities for participation in cases. The division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology currently has five attending physicians: Dr. Marcelo Guimaraes, Dr. Christopher Hannegan, Dr. Claudio Schonholz, Dr. Bayne Selby and directed by Dr. Renan Uflacker. |
