Salary: Annual compensation for residents is in accordance with the compensation schedule that is in effect on July 1 of each year. Paychecks are received on the last working day of the month. Annual Leave (Vacation): All full-time residents receive 15 days of compensated annual leave per year. Annual leave must be scheduled in advance. Annual leave cannot accrue from one year to the next. Sick Leave: Full-time residents receive 15 days of sick leave per year. Sick leave can be used for personal illness, disability or injury, and for medical, dental or optical appointments. Sick leave cannot accrue from one year to the next. Insurance: Health, Dental, Life and Disability Insurance is available at a nominal charge. Family members may be covered for an additional charge. Resident Educational Fund: The department actively supports the pursuit of scholarly activities by the residents. During the course of the residency program, each resident has a budget to attend meetings and conferences and purchase books. Additionally, the department pays fees for ACLS, In-Training examinations, and meeting expenses upon acceptance of resident exhibits and papers, and expenses related to rotation at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP).
