Patients and Families - Scope of Care

The Department of Radiation Oncology is a service line of the Medical University of South Carolina for providing radiotherapy to cancer patients. The professional and technical resources of Radiation Oncology and various support services combine to provide an integrated continuum of care referred to as Radiation Oncology Clinical Services. These services are availableat the MUSC downtown location and as well as at our newest location in Mt.Pleasant at 1200B Jonnie Dodds Boulevard. The patient population includes eastern South Carolina, ages ranging from the infant to geriatric populations. The hours of operation are 7:30 am- 5:00 pm and on-call status for evening and weekends. Services provided include external beam irradiation, Brachytherapy, and other state-of the-art procedures such as Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, Iotrex, Intravascular Brachytherapy (IVB), Mammosite, Total Body Irradiation (TBI), Intense Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and 3-D conformal therapy with Multi-Leaf Collimation.
